These days Banking scenario has changed altogether and I feel pity on myself and my colleagues working as an officer in Bank in unhealthy condition as we have to work nearly 10-12 hours a day. My new young officers Joins the Bank egarly but after a couple of months they look for other avenues and are resigning from the Bank Why? I would like to highlight certain facts which we are bitterly experiencing and is not a foul cry.
1) ACUTE STAFF CRUNCH- Acute shortage of staff members have forced officers to share the additional burden /work of clerks and officers both. This has cropped up in recent years mainly because of opening of large number of branches with rapid pace without proper planning particularly of Human resource. Despite knowing the fact that large number of officers/staffs are getting retired in these years large number of new branches have been opened and due to immense pressure from Management the branches already running with inadequate number of staffs had to spare staffs from their existing strength for newly opened branches. This has badly affected the quality of work at branches be it the Loan and Advances or other areas of General Banking. Now we are paying the price in the form of huge accumulation of NPA/PNPA and various frauds in Banks in recent times.
2) HIGH ATTRITION- It is very painful to mention that though management recruited substantial number of clerical staffs and officers but failed to retain even 50% of these new recruits. It is also very stunning that many of them have even resigned without any substitute/ better job offer . The work pressure in the Bank has increased multifold resulting in high attrition rate which has never been in the Past. This is a bare fact which everybody should understand that what is the salary Bank is offering to the new recruits whether he is a clerk or officer in lieu of immense work pressure and risk involved ?

3) RISING NPA- The callous attitude of Management has forced officers to work in pressure and needless to say that somewhere we have lost family life. In early/young age many of our officers are suffering from Diabetes and Hypertension which is a result of huge stress level on officers. The mounting NPA/PNPA is not a result of one or two years but have cropped up over the several years but has become curse on present working officials at branches.
Presently I must say that Banks are running without proper direction. Instead of consolidating present business, human resource and cleansing of bad assets Management is forcing us to emphasize in Cross selling and Bank expansion. What for???? Pl think..
My dear friends there is no meaning of such earnings which can not be enjoyed /spent for our happiness with family. We are getting meager amount as salary if we compare with other PSUs / Govt jobs but even then we donot have time to spend this meager amount for our own cause. I appeal to Union leaders to please fight for regulated working hours and 5 days week first on top priority and honestly speaking this will be a great gift to all of us.
