This year (2012), the festival of lights is being celebrated on 13th November, 2012. For most of the Indians (specially Hindus), Diwali is special as it is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC. Besides India, Diwali is also a holiday in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji. It is also a special occasion for bankers as lot of activity takes place on all fronts in our branches. Certainly more work but with festive mood. Bankers who live away from families are always under dilemma whether they should go back to family or stay at station of posting as it is difficult to get long leave. I wish to all our readers and well wishers "HAPPY DIWALI" to our visitors across the globe.

(2) Mantra for Health & Longevity : Maha Mrityunjay

This is the great Mrityunjay Maha Mantra (or the great Death-Conquering Mantra), which occurs as Mantra 60A in the Yajur Veda in Chapter III. In this presentation, Maha Mrityunjay Mantra is presented in association with Laghu Mrityunjay mantra - making the duo extremely effective for gaining Gayatri Mantra. This is one of the most important maha mantras of Hinduism, second only to the Gayatri Mantra – dedicated to Lord Shiva - to be chanted atleast 108 times, once daily, with or without a lighted Pooja Deepak.

(3) Pooja for Family Well Being (Sri Sukt)

The Durga Saptashati is one of the greatest and most prominent of all stotras in Hinduism. In its original form, it appears in Markandey Puran. Dedicated to Goddess Maha Durga, it bestows all round family well being, including health, wealth, peace and prosperity, alongwith success in all endeavours, if it is chanted complete – twice annually during Navratris in April and October every year. Here, we offer the Devi Sookta from Durga Sapta Shati, which is in itself an extremely musical prayer, invoking Goddess Durga in her many manifestations.

(4) Kuber Money Mantra

Kuber is considered the treasurer of the gods and here he is being invoked, in association with the ‘beej’ mantras of Lakshmi (Shreem), Durga (Hreem) and Kali (kleem) for grant of income and wealth.

(5) Hanuman Chalisa

Originally composed by Goswami Tulsidas, who revived the languishing Hinduism during the medieval times, with his great epic “Ram Charit Manas” in Hindi. Hanuman Chalisa is a prayer dedicated to Lord Hanuman and prays him to relieve us of all our misery, evil spirits, lack of knowledge, our enemies, poverty and all sorts of problems in our life. This very short prayer is highly effective in times of emergency, or even as a daily prayer.
